Like a lot of new habits, developing a regular yoga practice may also seem like a far fetched idea. But really, it is as simple as doing 30 minutes in a week! Yes, the way the body works is through developing new patterns over time. So for as long as we feed it information which may not be great, it will start deteriorating, changes which may not be visible quickly but will be harmful in the long run. However, if we change this stimulus into a positive one, feed healthy patterns of movement and habits, results will be positive too. So we can start by 10 or 15 minutes a day if thats what our busy schedule permits us, and then slowly start increasing this time to 20-30 minutes, maybe twice a week. Now even if this means we’re only doing 1 hour of yoga in the week which may seem pointless, isn’t it better than not doing anything at all thinking that you need to spare at least an hour each day?

There are so many things to gain even from this small change. Our mood and energy lift up from tonnes of internal internal changes like those in the level of dopamine hormone in the body which is responsible for reducing stress. And even though these positive changes will occur, throwing the body off into a positive feedback loop will only be possible over some time. Increasing your practice over the time, is also advisable. Assessing your growth and seeing if the body needs a little extra push, or if the breath needs more work, or if whats required is to sit and be with your thoughts So it is important to trust the process, and listen to the body, allow it rest or challenge it, whatever may be required. Remember that it is easy to build new and better habits but to see real growth and change, it takes consistency and trust.
